Community Participation Project

This project is being run by Delos Community in partnership with Northamptonshire County Council and is designed to support a person to identify and explore different day, evening and weekend activities in line with their interests and needs. 

The purpose of the Project is to:

• Support people to make real and valued contributions to and become connected within their local community
• provide one to one basis to firstly identify each person’s interests and then help them integrate into their community through these interests
• meet new people and gain new friends
• gain a sense of achievement and feel valued
• take part in different activities to those provided by day centres
• provide enough support to sustain community activities and transfer support to mainstream organisations and informal support

How does it happen…for you?

• take part in different activities to those provided by day centres
• provide enough support to sustain community activities and transfer support to mainstream organisations and informal support
• you will have your own worker (Community Connector) to help you choose your activities
• your worker will listen to you and those that know you to see what interests you have
• you will be able to try different activities to see what you enjoy the most
• your worker will help you to settle in to your activities and get to know people
• you will have help arranging how you get to your chosen activity
• your worker will stay with you, until you feel safe and comfortable without them
