Resource Centre

Delos Resource Centre provides activities for adults with learning difficulties. Based in the heart of Wellingborough, the resource centre offers a range of sport & leisure activities providing personalised choice of options for people with learning disabilities.

Individual Programme
Everyone coming to Delos has their own individual programme of activities, designed in line with their choices and needs.

Goals and Targets
Each person is enabled to make their own Person Centred Plan which is used as a base for reviews and programme planning. Programmes are planned to enable each person to work towards making their aspirations and goals become reality. Each individual has at least one review a year, to assess progress, goals and targets.

Staff Team
All our staff are skilled and experienced to provide the best support to meet individual needs and to encourage skills for independence. Delos is committed to training and co-ordinates comprehensive training programmes for its employees.

Total Communication
To ensure that all our Service Users are able to express their wishes, we use signing, symbols, pictures, photographs and objects of reference in order to facilitate communication.

Transitions
Developed to help young people between 18 and 25 who are leaving education and looking to make their way in an adult world. It offers individuals an opportunity to pursue transitional skills and experiences identified by themselves and significant others in their lives.

Sports and Leisure Programme
Designed to meet the needs and wishes of adults with learning
difficulties who are between 26 and 50 years of age.

Ageing Actively
The Ageing Actively Programme is designed specifically for the needs of adults with learning difficulties who are over 50 years old. The activities are less energetic, the pace calmer and the goals more suitable to their time of life while staying active in body and mind.

Community Participation & Volunteer Projects
Supports people to make real and valued contributions to and become connected within their local community. Delos works on a one to one basis to identify each persons interests and then help him/her to integrate fully into their community. The long term aim for many is that little or no formal support will eventually be required with all participants of the project enjoying varying levels of natural support. Those individuals with higher needs would have a support worker to enable them to maintain their participation in community life.
